I’m sure you’re wondering what the %*&$ is going on... Well, we made a recent discovery that we had birds nesting in our attic. We love birds (they were even on our wedding invitations,) but we don’t cohabitate well with them. Their messy habits don’t mix well with my OCD and germ-o-phobia! It’s early March, they have time to build a new nest, and it’s not too cold to feel guilty about kicking them out, right?
Those “freeloaders” (as Mike refers to them) chose our bathroom air duct to cozy up in all Winter. We removed the duct and brought it outside. After removing 3 feet of straw and nesting material clogging it up we were eager to re-hang it and clean up after the dirty nesters. We had bought some wire mesh to cover the duct, and area they were entering the attic through. About an hour later we had finished stapling the wire into place and cleaning-you can bet i had rubber gloves on.We received a little backlash from the former tenant, he hung around for a while giving us looks, and quite possibly a piece of his mind. He also made sure to leave us a going away gift when he pooped on the screen we put up (but who can blame him!)
I guess we’re already empty nesters?
