Fabers vs Basement

If I had the guts to show you a picture of our basement right now, I would, but I don't. So you'll have to settle for me describing it. Close your eyes, and picture a fairly large, open room, painted bright white, with a large screen TV, an inherited couch, coffee table, 2 Karlstad Ikea chairs, and a tile floor. Wait, where's the floor? Oh, covered in tools and home repair crap...

Usually there's a method to our madness or mess, but not this time! We really need an affordable solution for organizing this mass of tools.

Hence the search for a WORKBENCH!

We started at Home Depot, and here's our top contenders.

  • Edsal 4 ft. Heavy duty workbench with single-drawer.
  • Rating: n/a
  • $172.00 shipping not included.
Its got all the basics, but we're not sure if it has enough storage drawers.

  • Husky 54 inch workbench with storage.
  • Rating: 4.8 out of 5 (32 reviews.)
  • $199.00 shipping not included.
This guys has a lot more storage, and has been highly rated.

Let's see what Lowes has to offer...

  • Kobalt 3 Drawer Workbench 45 inch.
  • Rating: 4.3 out of 5 (66 reviews.)
  • $189.00 + free pick up at store.
This seems to have adequate storage, but it doesn't have the second shelf, or top shelf like the Home Depot Husky workbench. This also has an overhead light, which may be useful, but not necessary.

  • Kobalt stainless steel heavy duty workbench 45 inch.
  • Rating 4.8 (9 reviews.)
  • $289 + free pick up if it's in stock.
Still no extra shelves, but she's pretty sexy for a workbench. Still, she's more expensive than our other options-is she worth it?

We checked out Amazon to see if they had any worthy comparisons. So far, nothing better than our current choices. We've got a big decision to make (literally,) so hold tight, and we'll announce our choice this week! Then we get to assemble the thing-a future post perhaps?! Time to put a dent in our basement chaos.

Which workbench do you recommend? What features do you think are a MUST?

  1. If you go w/the Edsal check out this link:

Flat shipping rate as well. Some work benches allow you to purchase addtional storage drawers - that could be an option!!
